In GAP, validity is calculated using some GAP parameters (nominal time, nominal distance, minimum distance and goal %) combined with the performance of the pilots to determine the validity of the day. If the validity is less than one then the scores are multiplied by the validity to get the (adjusted) day scores. The formula used essentially makes the validity dependent on the average distance flown. PBS4HG does not work like this. Instead, it decreases the point spread between pilots if they did not make goal and treats pilots who fly less than minimum distance as a single pilot (and absent pilots as single pilot). If validity is defined as the difference in points between 1st and last place, then PBS4HG has lower validity if fewer pilots make goal or more pilots get less than the minimum distance Contact: Wesley Hill
